Electric Field Patterns

Aim - To investigate the electric field patterns around two point charges and two parallel plates.     Instructions
 The dish contains seeds, floating on oil.  When the Van de Graaff is switched on the seeds align themselves along the electric field lines
  • Investigate the field patterns around two point charges and two parallel plates.
  • Throw the sawdust at the Van de Graaff dome. 
  • The sawdust is affected by the radial field around the dome. Explain the behaviour of the pieces of sawdust after they come in contact with the charging dome.
